Known worldwide for it's Spectacular fishing.
The river is fed from the large Chilliwack lake watershed which is huge.
Towering mountains, lush forest and pristine water characterize this river.
Chilliwack lake is surrounded by tall peaks and is home to large lake trout. Deep running
spoons trolled down 30 to 90 feet (and deeper) will catch these big beauties. The lake is
also the start point and end point for the wild salmon and trout migration.
Salmon runs include five species of pacific salmon. The best fishing is during the fall.
With the winter and summer Steelhead (trout) and Chinook (King salmon) in spring,
fishing is good most of the year. Most fishers target the large salmon runs in the fall,
but the steelhead angler is found casting all winter long for the king of trout.

Steelhead trout grow up to 30 pounds here and fight like no other.
The silver bright steelhead or "chromer" is fast and spooky.
To catch a steelhead trout takes a new level of patience and skill. The river has a good
hatchery stock and only hatchery stock can be kept . Wild steelhead are catch and
release but hatchery (adipose fin clipped) can be taken. Although the salmon and
steelhead trout stocks are good in most of the river some are not.
The Cultus lake stock of sockeye salmon are endangered and others are at risk.
Regulations are very changeable and the angler must check before fishing.
